What is Steampunk?

Steampunk is a sub-genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery, especially in a setting inspired by industrialized Western civilization during the 19th century. The most recognizably features include anachronistic technologies and retro-futuristic inventions. It is a most significant event, and rooted its perspective on many different fields such as the fashion, culture, architectural style, and art.

Among these fields, the most outstanding one is on the clothing fashion world. There are various kinds of clothes both for men and women in the steampunk style. Though the clothes are not exactly in the victorian style, it placed much emphasis on the the technological bits or hints of a more adventurous life than a typical Victorian citizen likely enjoyed.

Steampunk fashion does not have a setted rules, but tends to assimilate modern styles influenced by the Victorian era. This may include gowns, corsets, petticoats and bustles; suits with vests, coats, top hats and spats; or military-inspired garments. Steampunk-influenced outfits are usually accented with several technological and period accessories: timepieces, parasols, flying/driving goggles, and ray guns. And the mostly applied color in the steampunk clothing are the copper and brown. For these colors are the machines instinctive colors.
A growing number of people are following this style. Aspects of steampunk fashion have been anticipated by mainstream to become a high fashion.
